What is all the hype lately? Well, let a 90s kid tell ya.
I know what you may be thinking: "Oh no, yet another blast for this Pokémon thing. Ain't even that great." But if you think about it, this has been a massive global success with stats to back it up. Besides its impressive growth in the past week, these little Japanese cartoons really were a large part of my childhood. I remember memorizing evolutionary forms and showing off my rare cards at lunch times. This was what brought kids together, so seeing it make a comeback is nothing but exciting to me.
What does catching a Pikachu at the park have to do with fashion? Well, to be frank, it doesn't. But, here's my attempt at bringing some deeper meaning to this post. No matter what new trends or fads come up, there's always something about the classics that remain so classic even 5, 10, 15 years later. Even though I've only been around for 20 years, this still really resonates with me and I see it happen all the time. Look at all the 90s-inspired dad hats, chokers and Clueless-esque mini dresses this season? Fashion keeps recycling, and I'm pretty cool with that.
Probably the biggest thing I've realized is that not every trend is for me. I'm learning to be more selective in what I buy now, but I've still got a lot to learn (as evidenced by my overflowing closet and Cher Horowitz mentality).
So what is the moral of this story?
