Essie | Licorice
Sally Hansen Insta Dry | Sand Storm
I know it's been a while since I even logged onto this site. As much as I can blame it on daylight savings or being preoccupied with life, I did go through a creative block. I took that time to think about how I wanted to proceed with this blog and even went so far as to reconstruct my Instagram feed. Crossing my fingers that the content looks a little more congruent...
After many weeks of plain, one-colour manicures, I decided to treat my nails to some nail art. I can really only do this when I have days off, since working in healthcare dictates the kinds of shades I can wear.
I started off with an opaque base of Sand Storm and waited for it to dry completely. I then placed striping tape in a grid pattern on top of the base. Once satisfied with my taping, I painted over a thick layer of Licorice and waited approximately 20 seconds before peeling off the tape. I find that waiting longer for the layer to dry prevents bleeding of the lines or puddling.
I hope you enjoyed this simple yet modern nail art design and can't wait to share more with you soon!
