Happy Pi Day!

If there can be fashion week, why not nail art week? Maria of So Nailicious and a few other high profile nail bloggers have created NAFW 2015: Nail Art Fashion Week to showcase some brilliant looks from the runways of the past few weeks. According to the schedule, today is the Fall 2015 dress inspired manicure day, but I found this gorgeous dress from Fall 2014... it still counts... right?

Regardless, I loved the abstract geometry of this dress and found the colour scheme to be so visually appealing. As a fairly busy individual, I definitely appreciate simple designs that do not require a ton of effort and tools.

To create this look, I started with a base of Essie's Topless & Barefoot (my absolute favourite nude creme shade) and waited for it to be dry. I sped up the drying process with a thin layer of Seche Vite. Once completely bone dry, I took some good 'ol scotch tape and applied it to the back of my hand a couple of times so that it would not be as tacky. There's nothing worse than peeling off your design with the tape! I applied the tape in random shapes to achieve the abstract triangle design. I started off with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue for the first layer of triangles, then used Black Out for a second layer. Be sure to use the lighter colours first as with any nail art design.

And there you have it, a super easy and high fashion inspired nail art tutorial!

  1. That looks amazing! I think I don't have enough patience as I always end up putting tape over semi dry nail polish and then everything is ruined haha.
