Constellation Nail Art: Valentino Pre-Fall 2015 Inspired

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight...

The magnificence of the night sky never fails to amaze me so I always make a point of looking up on a clear night. I wanted to do a space-inspired nail art manicure and came across this gorgeous gown by Valentino. Inspiration is all around us, but what better inspiration is there than directly from the creative geniuses of the fashion industry?

I loved the gradient transition from light to dark and tried to recreate the clustering of stars near my cuticles. First, I painted two coats of OPI's I Saw... U Saw... We Saw... Warsaw. I then took OPI's Rose of Light and wiped the brush on the sides of the bottle so as only to catch the micro glitter. I applied this sparingly along the cuticle line and gently dragged a few specks along the nail bed for a nice, soft gradient. I decided to stop here rather than apply another coat of glitter because I wanted the dark base to peek through and imitate the night sky. I then used a tiny dotting tool to make a few spots in the silhouette of a constellation in Orly's Luxe. To connect these dots, I took a very fine nail art brush and drew a thin line between them using the same gold polish.

Simple and elegant -- the perfect combination! Thanks for reading.
