OPI Fifty Shades of Grey - Swatches & Review

Description of Photo

As the title suggests, today I have a gorgeous sampling of the Fifty Shades of Grey collection by OPI. Inspired by the highly anticipated book turned movie making its premiere on Valentine's Day weekend, OPI has done it again with creative collaborations. The full collection consists of three greys, two silvers and a lovely red - fitting for such a theme, no?

Here's what Suzi says about the collection,

"Colour is so much more than something to admire. The colours we choose to war represent our personalities, our moods, our feelings. The collection bottles the film's passion, luxury and power in six beautiful nail lacquers ideal for expressing sensuality through beauty."

My Silk Tie | This is a smooth, light silver metallic polish that has a foil-like finish to it. It isn't exactly chrome, but it's not a muddied or entirely smooth silver either. It's also not a very crisp silver like OPI DS Radiance. Instead, it's a touch warmer and softer, which is unique for a silver metallic and gives it a real luxe feel. This took 3 coats to achieve opacity and there are definitely visible brushstrokes. Then again, brushstrokes are always hard to avoid with metallics.

Cement the Deal | True to its name, this is a classic cement grey creme. I really love how elegant and soft this looks, while still being a cool-toned shade. Usually greys can make my hands appear very red and the contrast just doesn't work out very well. Since grey is all the rage in the fashion-world now, I can definitely see myself wearing more of this shade. This took 2 coats to achieve opacity.

Romantically Involved | This is a blue-toned red that also leans on the darker brick side of reds. Again, I really enjoyed how this worked with my skin tone. I find this a really classic red and think it's perfect for this collection. This took 3 coats to achieve opacity because I wanted to cover up my smile lines, but you could definitely get away with 2 if you have shorter nails!

These are definitely my kind of colours. I can definitely see myself making good use of these this winter season. I personally have not read the book, but I just might have to check out the movie since these polishes were so beautiful!
