I've got mixed feelings about school because after a 4 month long break, my brain has turned to mush. As you guys know, I'm from Calgary but go to school in Waterloo so I'm excited to see my friends in September. However, this year's course load is tough so I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready enough for that!

I first saw this awesome nail art design on All Lacquered Up and had to recreate it for myself. I did the striping a little differently though, so keep reading for a pictorial!

For this year's back to school season, I wanted to do something bright and unique. One of the hottest songs this summer has been Fancy by Iggy Azalea and Charlie XCX. In their music video, we see Iggy throwing it back to the 90's with Clueless inspired attire and setting. Clueless is one of my favourite movies of all time and I have always been in love with Cher's closet. Seeing the iconic yellow and black plaid in Iggy's music video inspired me to try it on my nails.

I started off with a base of yellow creme polish and waited for it to dry completely. I then used fine detailing nail art brushes from the Born Pretty store to create 4 fat white lines. After those were completely dried, I used a thin brush to make the black intersecting lines. Here's a little pictorial to follow!

This design can be done with any colour combinations and would look fabulous with traditional red and black or navy and green. More back-to-school tutorials to come!

Thanks for reading,
